140918 First Episode Of 'My Lovable Girl' Lands In Second Place

“My Lovable Girl,” the new drama starring Rain and f(x)”s Krystal Jung started off in second place with viewer ratings of 8.2 percent. It followed “It”s Okay It”s Love” which recorded ratings of 12.9 percent for its final episode.

Also known as “My Lovely Girl,” the drama began with a tragic car accident that demonstrated why each of the main characters is so scarred by past events. Rain plays producer and songwriter Lee Hyun Wook who spent the last few years hiding away after he lost his girlfriend in that accident. He meets Krystal”s character Yoon Se Na because his dog takes a liking to her. Also a songwriter, Yoon Se Na has run out of options in life and is pretending to be someone else. While trying to interest music producers in her songwriting talents, she has a run in with an arrogant star, played expertly by Infinite”s L. But he may yet discover her hidden talents and be less arrogant. A love triangle may be in their future.

The first place ratings winner was “My Spring Days,” which rated 9.5 percent. “My Spring Day” also deals with the loss of a loved one in that its heroine, played by Girls Generation”s Sooyoung, is the recipient of a heart transplant. What she does not know is that the heart she received belonged to the wife of her future brother-in-law. And to make things messier, that woman was also the first love of his brother, her current fiancĂ©. Although both competing dramas deal with tragic loss, “My Spring Days” seems lighter and more buoyant, turning the tragic events of loss into hopeful romantic comedy. Kam Woo Sung makes an endearing male lead and Sooyoung can”t figure out why she is so attracted to him and his children. Although she is engaged to his brother, played by a broody Lee Jong Hyuk, her new heart wants what her heart wants.

In third place this week is “Iron Man,” also known as “Blade Man.” That drama about a man who is so irritable that he sprouts knives from his body stars Lee Dong Wook and Shin Se Kyung. The drama only rated 5.6 percent, probably because Lee Dong Wook”s character was so unlikable even before he began sprouting sharp objects from his skin. The drama”s description says that Shin Se Kyung”s character will warm his heart and help heal his scars, turning him into a nicer person.
