Was it a surprise that SM Entertainment named Girls' Generation's sub-unit as "TaeTiSeo", a name formed by the first Korean characters of Taeyeon, Tiffany and Seohyun's name.
Other KPop groups who had sub-units went for bubbly and girly names like "Orange Caramel" (After School), and "Pixie" (Rainbow) while Super Junior's sub-unit was named "K.R.Y." the initials of its members who were Kyuhyun, Ryeowook, and Yesung.
So why did SM Entertainment chose this name? It was because Girls' Geneation's fans are already very aware of each member and there was no reason to give them a different name. Just hearing the name "TaeTiSeo" is enough to bring Taeyeon, Tiffany and Seohyun to mind.
In addition to that, a representative from SMEntertainment continued to reiterate that "Girls' Generation's sub-unit is not a fixed unit, the members will be replaced depending on the music and concept. Waiting to see which members will form a new unit will be fun for the fans". And because the members of the sub-unit will continue to change, that's one of the reasons why SM Entertainment went with a name that combined the first characters of their names, to avoid confusion.
Meanwhile TaeTiSeo's mini-album "Twinkle" will be released online through iTunes on the 29th and will be followed by the physical album release on the 2nd of May.
If it wasn't "TaeTiSeo", Can you think of any name for them?
