Lee Seung Gi and Girls” Generation”s Yoona may be one of 2014″s celebrity power couples in the Korean entertainment industry, but both choose to remain silent about their relationship.

On August 20, Lee Seung Gi was interviewed by SBS”s One Night of TV Entertainment on the set of a commercial shoot for a rice cooker advertisement that he is endorsing.
During the course of the segment, the actor was asked if he knew how to cook, to which he responded, “I learned a few years before, but I”ve only recently started to learn again.”
The interviewer asked, “When you were learning, did you do it because you wanted to cook for a special person?” trying to get a juicy answer from him.
However, he averted the question in a witty manner by saying, “I understand what kind of answer you are fishing for, but your timing is a bit off.”

Lee Seung Gi momentarily blanked out, and he admitted, “I was confused for a moment there. I forgot that it was the title of my movie,” eliciting a round of laughter from the staff.
On the movie, he said, “I”ve always wanted to do a romantic comedy film, and I”m excited because I like director Park Jin Pyo, and because I”ll be reunited Moon Chae Won whom I filmed my debut drama with.”

She gestured at Jung Chan Woo and said, "I really wanted to try coming out on 'Cultwo Show,'" but neither Jung Chan Woo nor Sung Si Kyung believed her.
Taemin was asked a similar question: "Were you ever surprised when you saw a celebrity in person?" He replied, "For me, it was when I first auditioned at the agency. 140715 SNSD's Yoona Drops ‘Nodame Cantabile’ To Film Chinese Movie ‘Goodbye Ani’
Written By Regina Kim on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 | 5:40 PM
The search for Nodame continues.
After much consideration, it turns out that Girls” Generation”s Yoona will not be taking part in the Korean remake of the Japanese drama “Nodame Cantabile.”
It was previously reported that the idol-actress was leaning towards accepting the role, but it seems like she has other projects to pursue.
SM Entertainment announced on the 14th, “We received other casting offers, and after discussing the details, we have decided to decline the offer for Yoona to headline in “Nodame Cantabile”.”
Instead, Yoona will be making her big-screen debut by starring in the Korean-Chinese movie production “Goodbye Ani” as the heroine Ani, a bubbly and cheerful character.
Not much is known about the movie, but it was announced that filming will begin in October, and that Taiwanese actor Eddie Peng was offered the role as male lead.
Yoona”s withdrawal from the drama leaves “Nodame Cantabile” without a main character once again, leaving the viewers wondering who will take place as the quirky and four-dimensional Nodame.
“Nodame Cantabile,” which will be going under the name “Cantabile Romance” for the Korean release, has so far confirmed the participation of Joo Won, Bae Yoon Shik, and Tiny G”s Do Hee.
The drama is scheduled to premiere on October.

On July 7, producers of ‘Nodame Cantabile’ Korean version named SNSD Yoona as the heroine of the Korean remake of popular Japanese TV series which will be broadcast through KBS2 TV in October.
However, KBS PD Han Sang Woo told Star News, “Yoona is the choice to be heroine of ‘Nodame Cantabile’ but we still need permission from the original PDs. Because of that we cannot finalize her yet.”
He added, “Nodame Cantabile’s author (Tomoko Ninomiya) wants a 100% identical casting to Ueno Juri who played Noda Megumi. If she says no to our casting, we can’t do anything about it.”
However, Tomoko Ninomiya herself replied to someone regarding the issue through her twitter account this afternoon saying that she is not going to be involved in the Korean remake of ‘Nodame Cantabile’.

140622 Ham Eun-jeong and Yoona
Written By Regina Kim on Monday, June 23, 2014 | 12:30 PM
Ham Eun-jeong
Idols who go into acting often have limited choices to begin with. Smaller roles, music-related roles and other less challenging ones. Ham Eun-jeong has had a few drama and movie parts in the 9 years she has been working as an actress and having had the chance to act in different genres and roles, her skills have matured nicely due to that variety and consistency.
While Ham has taken on music-related roles in “Dream High” and ‘White: The Melody of the Curse‘, she never fell into the trap of making that her default, even though it would have been a more comfortable setting for any idol. She has also done romantic comedy, most notable with her starring role in ‘Coffee House‘, but has not been afraid to go more dark as well, with works like the aforementioned ‘White: The Melody of the Curse‘ and also ‘Death Bell‘.

Inexperienced actors can often be typecast and also find their skills veer towards a specific genre, but Ham Eun-jeong manages to adapt well to different tones and roles. Her more bubbly side can be endearing and adorable, while she is very capable of also creating unease and investment in less cheerful characters. Her range of emotions in each type of setting does need improvement, but her portrayal of them is very satisfactory.
Ham Eun-jeong is one of those cases where the idol’s acting career has mostly been operating as its own, separate existence from their musical one. However, image counts for a lot in South Korea. This means that the future of both of her careers is very uncertain ever since the T-ara bullying scandal. If she ever does manage to make a comeback to dramas and movies, exploring different genres and challenging herself with more nuanced characters would benefit her acting skills.
Yoona
Similarly, Girl’s Generation’s Im Yoona, more commonly known by the monikerYoona, has managed to avoid the typical roles into which idols tend to be relegated. Because of her extensive performance experience as an idol she is a natural in front of the camera, which is her biggest asset as an actress. It afford her a grace that many serious actors must grow into. In her earliest role in the 2007 drama “9 End 2 Outs“, she plays a haughty teenage talent. The role was a safe choice for the budding idol as her girl group had debuted mere months before. It gave her media exposure as well as acting experience. Her work in it was perfectly satisfactory and showed potential for improvement.

When Girls’ Generation‘s popularity exploded in 2009, it allowed her to land leading roles that challenged her and let her prove her skills as an actress as well as an idol. She has taken on complex dramas like 2012′s “Love Rain” where she plays two different characters in two separate time periods. While her performance wasn’t as nuanced as it could’ve been, it was full of charm and depth of emotion. Yoona lit up the screen when she’s on it, especially when she smiled. The same holds true for all of her dramas.
It was in 2013′s “Prime Minister and I” where her acting opened up and began to mirror her natural screen presence. Earlier roles felt restricted in her more serious moments, but as Nam Da-jeong, she fed off veteran actor Lee Beom-soo‘s charisma and delivered a layered performance. Like Ham Eun-jeong, Yoona‘s acting would benefit from taking on a wider variety of roles. The experience will sharpen and refine her into a stronger actress.
